No more excuses!

dentist ColumbiaSo, what’s your excuse?

When it comes to your dental health, did you know that flossing is actually more important than brushing? So, why do so many of us find reasons not to floss? Following are some of the excuses your dentist Columbia Dr. Gregory Wych hears most often.

Excuse No. 1: Food doesn’t get stuck in my teeth.

Flossing isn’t done so much to remove food from the teeth – it’s done to remove plaque from your teeth, which can only be removed via flossing or a deep cleaning from your dentist Columbia.

Excuse No. 2: I don’t know the correct way to floss.

Flossing is one of the most challenging grooming activities there is, but it’s also one of the most important ones. So if you need help, ask us for assistance.

If you have a hard time reaching the back of your mouth, ask your dentist Columbia about some of the helpful tools that are available. Children should start flossing as soon as they have two teeth that touch.

Excuse No. 4: I don’t have enough time to floss.

Find a time of day that works for you and then floss at least once a day. Make it a part of your daily routine, both in the morning and at night. Store your floss with your toothbrush as a reminder.

Excuse No. 5: Flossing hurts.

If your gums bleed or flossing causes you pain, you may have gingivitis or gum disease. If you brush and floss daily, the bleeding and pain should stop in less than 2 weeks. If it doesn’t, see your dentist Columbia.

Excuse No. 6: My teeth are too close together.

Try waxed or glide floss for an easier fit, and if your gums are recessed, try a threader or loop to locate an easier entry point.

If you need assistance in learning how to floss correctly, call the office of dentist Columbia Dr. Gregory Wych today to schedule an appointment and we’ll walk you through it. No more excuses!
